OLEAN, NY - A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday on several charges related to allegations that he pointed a gun at students near Olean's middle and high schools.

The man, Jacob Whitehorn, was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of governmental administration, possession of a weapon on school grounds, tampering with evidence, second degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a minor. He also was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance - testosterone, which normally requires a prescription.

Whitehorn was arrested after Olean and State Police responded to a report that a man was pointing  gun at students Thursday morning.

Police said Whitehorn was arrested after a brief foot chase, during which he discarded a BB gun that was a replica of an automatic handgun. Police later recovered the gun.

No one was injured, police said..

Whitehorn was sent to Cattaraugus County jail, where he is being held on $5,000 bail.
