The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties.

According to the agency, lake effect snow with accumulations of 3 to 5 inches is expected. The storm will hit hardest in the western and central portions of Cattaraugus County and the higher terrain of the Chautauqua Ridge. Motorists should anticipate slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.

The advisory was issued at 12:26 p.m. Tuesday and will remain in effect through 10 a.m. Wednesday.
