HOUGHTON, NY -- The Olean Oilers picked up a much needed win Friday night against the Genesee Rapids to improve their record to 8-14 as they look to make a push toward the .500 mark.
In the 5-2 victory, Chris Wastchak got the Oiler offense started early with a solo homerun in the second inning for one of the team's nine hits in the game.
Cameron Weinberger picked up his second win of the year, going a full seven innings and giving up only four hits and only one earned run. Weinberger struck out four and walked only one in the game.
Brian Pulli finished off the final two innings of work to earn another save. Pulli gave up four hits and one run.
Brett Migliore and Mike Magnanti each had two hits on the day.
Saturday's game against the division rival Hornell Dodgers has been postponed. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, July 7, at Bradner Stadium, starting at 5 p.m.
