OLEAN, NY - The Olean Oilers offense put on another show Tuesday night for the second game in a row in which they pushed 12 runs across the plate.
In a 12-1 victory over the Genesee Rapids, Allen Murphy and Mike Magnanti continued to lead the Oiler offense, combining for five hits and five of the 12 Oiler runs. Both players are batting well over .400 on the season.
Murphy recorded three RBI on the night while Chris Wastchak drove in two runs as well.
Gunner Becker, the young pitching phenom who just graduated high school, had another outstanding performance, giving the Oilers seven strong innings with no earned runs, five hits and four strikeouts.
The offensive outbursts in the past two games have given fans a sense of hope for the season that hasn't been what typical Oiler fans have become used too.
"I can feel us starting to gel more since we started spending more time together," Isaac Porter, who plays for St. Bonaventure, said. "That's the first major step in the right direction.
Becker is 2-0 on the season and has only given up eight hits in 17 innings of work with the league’s leading ERA of 0.00.
With the two victories, the Oilers improved their record to 8-12 on the year.
