Olean Department of Public Works Sets Oct. 30 as Date for Annual Leaf Collection

OLEAN, NY -- The Department of Public Works has announced the city-wide leaf pickup day for 2017. Leaves, not tree branches and limbs, will be collected from curbsides and taken away by dumptrucks on Oct. 30. 

Leaf collection will begin in areas east of North and South Union streets to the Olean Creek and Allegheny River, and continue in order to the following locations:

  • West Olean from Union Street to the west city line, south of West Sullivan Street
  • North Olean
  • Boardmanville area
  • South Olean 
  • East Olean 

The city asks residents to not rake leaves into the roadways until the weekend of Oct. 28.The public is asked to refrain from parking cars in roadways where leaf collection is expected. Also, the DPW requests leaves not be placed in roadways after the intiial pickup. Doing so may interfere with drainage and plowing operations.
