OLEAN, NY - Drinking water precautions issued for Seneca Heights residents on Tuesday evening have been extended.
“It is necessary to sample the water at three different sites and test each sample twice before the boil water notice can be revoked,” said Tom Windus, director of the Department of Public Works.
Due to a water main break, the city advised Seneca Heights residents to drink bottled water or boil their drinking water.
The announcement, issued at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday by Jerry Volz, the city's network coordinator, asked Seneca Heights residents to take the precautions for the next 24 hours.
“I appreciate the hard work of Olean’s Department of Public Works to rectify this situation in Seneca Heights and apologize to the residents for any inconvenience that this water main break has caused,” said Mayor William J. Aiello.
