OLEAN, NY - The city has received a 2016 Transportation Project of the Year Award for its North Union Street Complete Street Project.
The award was presented Thursday at the Western New York American Public Works Association Awards Banquet at Statler City in Buffalo.
“The City of Olean is honored to accept this award,” Mayor William J. Aiello said. “The North Union Street project was actually a three-year long endeavor if you include the planning. It was a leap of faith for our residents and the early signs indicate that the transformation of the street has made an impact, as both new and established businesses begin to invest in properties along the street.”
The Transportation Project of the Year Award award was established to promote excellence in the management and administration of public works projects by recognizing the partnership between the managing agency and participating consultants and contractors.
The consultant for the project was the Buffalo branch of Mott MacDonald, and Catco Construction of Alden was the contractor.
