OLEAN, NY — Mayor William Aiello announced appointments Wednesday to the city's Equity and Inclusion Committee, which had been established by the Olean Common Council on Aug. 11.

According to a City of Olean news release, the committee will make recommendations on city policy, practice and procedure in an effort to ensure all Olean residents and employees receive fair, equitable treatment. The committee will identify and address inequalities underrepresented populations in the Olean community face daily.

“I am pleased that we had a number of residents who were willing to volunteer their time, talents and energy to the Equity and Inclusion Committee,” Aiello said. "Members of the Common Council and I worked together to choose the committee members, and it was a difficult task as all the candidates were highly qualified. I look forward to reviewing this committee’s recommendations.”
