OLEAN, NY - After a rare two-game skid, in which they fell to both the Rome Generals and the Wellsville Nitros, the Olean Oilers defeated the Genesee Rapids 11-7 Thursday.
Although their defense has not been where it was in that incredible streak of 24 wins, the top half of the Oilers lineup kept the offense rolling. Cole Peterson, Bubba Hollins and Aaron Phillips combined to drive in 7 of the 11 the runs. Peterson's 3-run triple early gave the team the jump it had been looking for the past two games. Hollins' 3-run homer then brought the Oilers back from a 7-5 deficit and gave them a 8-7 lead they would not surrender.
David Lyskawa started on the mound for the Oilers going 5 2/3 innings, eegiving up five hits for five runs and striking out four. Eddie Demurias came in for three innings of relief, during which he struck out five and allowed only one hit.
