ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – Kam Lane singled home Tyler Phillips in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday to give the Olean Oilers a 6-5 walk-off victory over Genesee in their final game of the 2018 New York Collegiate Baseball League season.
The Oilers finished the season in second place in the league’s Western Division with a 25-17 record, a game behind the first-place Rochester Ridgemen.
The team will host the Niagara Power in the Western Division Wild Card game at Bradner Stadium at 6 p.m. Monday. The winner will advance to play the Ridgemen in the three-game Division Finals, which begin Tuesday.
In Sunday’s game, Genesee built an early 5-2 lead, but Olean scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to knot the contest. Matt Grace earned the win in relief for the Oilers, keeping Genesee off the board in four innings of work.–
The game was played at Fred Handler Park on the campus of St. Bonaventure University. The Oilers usually play their home games at Bradner Stadium in Olean.
