The Olean Public Library opened its doors to the public on Monday as part of its phased reopening under Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s New York Forward program.

The library is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 7 p.m. The library also offers curbside services by appointment from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The library will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays during July and August.

Hours and services are limited because of staff reduction and social distancing regulations. Patrons visiting the library must wear masks and observe social distancing protocols. Any patron with symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, chills, shortness of breath or coughing, is asked to please stay home and not place library staff and visitors at risk.

In order to use a public computer, patrons are required make appointments in advance by calling 716-372-0200, by emailing reference@oleanlibrary.org, or by messaging the library’s Facebook page. Drop-in computer sessions are available only if the computers have not been previously booked. In order to serve as many patrons as possible, the library has limited sessions to one hour. While social distancing requirements remain in place, only a limited number of computers are available. Also, staff are unable to provide one-on-one computer assistance at this time.

Patrons are permitted to browse the collections and to utilize the information desk for assistance in locating materials or sending faxes. The copiers, printers and scanner also are available for use. The library’s meeting rooms, children’s story-time room and play area, and teen room are closed because of New York Forward regulations.

The library will notify the public when it is permitted to expand its hours, services and building use. For more information, persons may call the library at 716-372-0200.
