OLEAN, NY -- Olean will receive a $100,062 federal firefighting grant to provide emergency response equipment and training to ensure adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards.
"We care about ensuring our friends and neighbors have fair access to fire emergency services,” said Rep. Tom Reed, who announced the funding. “This grant enables our firefighters to acquire the equipment and training they need to provide safety to our communities.” Reed represents the Greater Olean area in Congress.
The funds will come from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, a part of the Department of Homeland Security’s effort to increase the nation’s overall preparedness and ability to respond to fire and fire-related hazards. The grant is part of an initiative to strengthen the nation’s ability to respond to fires by providing funds to ensure 24-hour fire department staffing.
