CUBA, NY -- The Palmer Opera House & Event Center is proud to announce that they are continuing their Acoustic Open Mic Night series through 2017. The Palmer began hosting the night back in the spring of 2016, because of a lack of such events for local musicians. Since that first night the crowds, as well as the number of musicians has continued to grow. You can expect anywhere between a dozen to 20 musicians to attend, and while there are certainly quite a few regulars, there are also new faces each month.
The night is open to anyone wanting to come down and play live musical offerings (all live music, no singing along with a track). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for performer sign-up, and performances run until around 10 p.m. Snacks, craft beers, and refreshments are available for purchase. Admission is free.
The Palmer Opera House in Cuba is a vintage theater steeped with rich character and details of another era. Palmer Opera House was built in 1867, and after a long and rich history fell into disrepair and restoration began in 2006 by the Cuba Friends of Architecture, the nonprofit organization charged with maintaining the historic venue.
Proceeds from concessions will benefit the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the historic venue.
