OLEAN, NY – Police arrested a 15-year boy Friday in connection with the threats made to Olean High School students through Facebook and other social media sites.
Police said the boy was taken into custody at 3:30 p.m. Friday and charged with two counts of making a terroristic threat. The threats were made on Thursday of this week and Thursday of last week, according to police.
The boy was arrested by the Olean Police Department’s Criminal Unit.
Earlier in the day, the Olean City School District alerted the community to the threats with a notice on its web page and Facebook and Twitter accounts:
"The Olean City School District is aware that there has been a threat posted on social media. The district takes all threats seriously and the authorities are aware and conducting an investigation. The safety of our students and employees is our top priority and we are dedicated to insure they are safe."
