OLEAN, NY -- Behind a strong pitching performance by Brian Pulli, the Olean Oilers won their home opener Sunday, defeating the Niagara Power 5-3. 

Pulli pitched six scoreless innings and struck out nine Power batters before tiring in the seventh and yielding two runs in a game that was delayed more than two hours by rain.

Kevin Higgins put the Oilers on the scoreboard early, belting a three-run home run after the team’s first two batters drew walks.

The Oilers added single runs in the third and fifth innings before the Power chipped away at their lead.

Braydon Nelson pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for the save. 

The Oilers (3-0) opened the season on the road with a pair of wins, defeating the Hornell Dodgers 6-5 on Friday and the Wellsville Nitros 9-6 Sunday

The team takes on the Genesee Rapids at 10:30 a.m. Monday on Kids Day at Bradner Stadium.
