OLEAN, NY – The Olean Oilers suffered their first loss of the 2018 New York Collegiate Baseball League season Tuesday, falling to the Sherrill Silversmiths 4-1 at Bradner Stadium.

Ryan Cooper tossed seven and a third scoreless innings for the Silversmiths, who scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning on a Matt Krause grand slam.

Kevin Higgins knocked in the Oilers’ only run with a single that plated Dominic Cecere in the bottom of the ninth.

Olean (4-1) has an off-day Wednesday. The team’s next game is  on the road against the Rome Generals Delutis Field on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
