A winter weather advisory will be in effect for the Greater Olean area on Thursday from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, lake effect snow of 4 to 7 inches and winds gusts as high as 40 miles per hour will produce blowing and drifting snow, causing snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
"Plan on snow-covered and slippery road conditions," the agency warned in its advisory, "Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute."
The advisory was issued for Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Southern Erie and Wyoming counties.
