State and local primary elections for Republican candidates will take place Tuesday. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m.

Topping the ballot in the Greater Olean area is the primary for State Senator in the 57th District to fill a one-year vacancy created by the resignation of Catharine Young.

George Borrello and Curt Crandall are vying for the Republican nomination. Democrat Austin Morgan went unchallenged during the petition process and will face the winner of the Republican primary in the Nov. 5 election.
