Business leaders’ support for relaxing COVID-19 restrictions is higher in Western New York than other parts of upstate New York, according to survey released Thursday by the Siena College Research Institute.

The survey found that 43% of Western New York CEOs feel New York state should plan to relax restrictions on business operations and move toward being back in business by May 1. That percentage is eight points higher than the average of the five regions in the survey.

Support for focusing on health issues was 50% among Western New York CEOs, seven points less than the average in the five regions.

The survey, conducted from April 3 to 14, consisted of internet interviews with 307 business leaders from the Capital Region, Central New York, the Finger Lakes region, the Mohawk Valley/Southern Tier region, and Western New York.
