WESTONS MILLS, NY – The Westons Mills Fire District has received a $68,096 federal grant to strengthen its ability to respond to fires and other hazards and keep citizens and emergency responders safe.
“We care about making sure that our local fire departments are able to purchase the equipment they need to properly protect and serve our communities. This grant will help them achieve this,” said U.S. Rep. Tom Reed (R-23), who announced the funding.
Reed said the monies will come from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which is awarding approximately $310.5 million directly to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies and nonaffiliated EMS organizations to enhance their response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel with respect to fire and all other hazards.
Weston Mills is a hamlet in the towns of Portville and Olean.
