OLEAN, NY — A crowd of more than 100 gathered in the Olean Public Library Friday for “Our Library Can Read Between the Wines,” the first wine-tasting event hosted by Friends of the Olean Library.

The evening featured food, basket raffles and talks on wine by Pedro-Abad Lopez, who has studied and worked in the wine industry.

Friends of the Olean Library, organized in the early 1980s, provides advocacy, outreach and additional resources to the Olean Public Library. Their programs include poetry and bookmark contests, used book sales and a book endowment fund, through which the library receives additional funds for circulating materials.
