The National Weather Service announced a winter storm watch from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Saturday in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, southern Erie and Wyoming counties.
Long-duration, heavy-snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet are possible. Snowfall rates may reach 1 to 2 inches per hour, with wind speeds potentially reaching 45 mph. This may result in significant blowing and drifting snow.
Travel could become difficult with poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads, which could impact morning and evening commutes Thursday and Friday.
The NWS predicts low probability of widespread, hazardous weather because the heavy snow will come in narrow bands.
