Forest Bathing-Moving Meditation at Lillibridge

Forest bathing, also known in Japanese culture as "taking in the forest atmosphere" or shinrin-yoku, is a moving meditation surrounded by nature.

Group will meet in the parking lot and wander through the woods, taking in the wonders of the beautiful location through all five physical senses as well as the sixth, intuitive sense, and finish by witnessing the sunset.

Program is open to all ages but children who attend should be able to remain quiet in order to allow all participants to reap the healing benefits of such experiences. Attendees should leave their phones off and cameras at home while they unplug for an hour and reset their internal systems, breathing and gently stretching along the way.

Led by Jessie Lampack Slattery, local registered yoga teacher, the center's Forest Bathing series will continue as the year shifts with the seasons.

Cost is $5 per person.  Pre-registration is not required.

In the event of rain, the Sept. 16 program will be moved to  Sept. 23.

I Rejoice in October and Every Month That My Mother Survived Breast Cancer

October is one of my favorite months.

It’s the beginning of basketball and hockey seasons, the increasing climax of football season and the end of baseball season. It’s a time when we start to break out the hoodies once reserved for summer bonfires, jeans last used in the winter, and can, without judgment, begin to hold on to the warmth of coffee or hot chocolate.

But, more ...

President Trump Ignores Some Issues, But Not E-Cigarette Use

Two weeks ago, President Donald Trump announced that he plans to ban flavored e-cigarettes in the United States in an attempt to keep these products away from teenagers. His announcement comes after reports of e-cigarettes causing a new lung illness in hundreds of people throughout the country. I agree with this proposed ban for a number of reasons and believe that it is only the first step ...

Curtain Closes on "Game of Thrones," and Now Our Watch Has Ended

It took me several days to wrap my head around how I felt about the “Game of Thrones” series finale, and then it hit me—to produce something thought-provoking enough to still be a topic of discussion among millions nearly a week later is to produce something epic, regardless of the nature of those thoughts.

A lot of the disappointment among fans stems from the fact that we ...
