Are the Buffalo Bills on the Rise?

What started out as the season of hope has made a turn for another depressing year for Buffalo Bills fans.

Last season, the Bills finished the season at 9-7 under first-year head coach Sean McDermott. The Bills would make the playoffs thanks to a Week 17 win against its AFC East division foes, the Miami Dolphins, and a last-second touchdown pass from Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy ...

What is Going on With Big Blue?

I am a New York Football Giants fan. Like many New-York-City-area teams, most people either hate them or love them. There is no in between.

Many folks from Western New York have strong ties to the Buffalo Bills and have developed a dislike for the Giants due to Super Bowl XXV when Buffalo lost the game 20-19 after a missed last-second field goal, known for going wide right by Scott ...

Streaming Services Should Focus on Quality Instead of Quantity

We live in a time where the demand is “more now.” We want more of the things we like, and we want them as soon as possible.

This can be seen clearly in the amount of shows the internet streaming service Netflix released in the past year: well over 150 different shows, movies, documentaries and comedy specials. In the month of August alone, 47 Netflix original shows and movies ...

McKean County Department of Emergency Services Schedules 2019 Licensing Classes for Radio Amateurs

November 12, 2018

SMETHPORT, Pa. -- They work to connect worried families with people in the path of hurricanes after phone service goes down. They might be the ones checking you in during a race or a dice run. If you know one or two, they might be telling you how cool it is to talk to people from all over from that radio-filled corner of their house.

They are amateur radio operators, better known as hams. And ...

'A Day in the Life' Follows Della Moore of the African American Center for Cultural Development

OLEAN, NY – When Della Moore walks down the street, she greets everyone she passes and makes sure to ask, “How are you doing?”

From the moment I joined her at the 7-Eleven on a cloudy, cold December morning until we finished making our stops along State and North Union streets, she remained ...

'Day in the Life' Follows Warehouse Selector Justus Elliot

OLEAN, NY -- For Justus Elliot, time and pace are essential. As a warehouse selector for Olean Wholesale Grocery Co-Op, most of the 21-year-old’s job calls for efficiency.

“Everything is time-based," Elliot explained. "One hundred percent is the norm, and it’s what we work for every day. If our score is less, then we are moving too slow, and we kick it into ...

Happy Veterans Day, Mom

What began as an attempt to boost her GPA soon turned into a 22-year career for my mom, Ramona Lee Discavage.

On the first day of her freshman year at St. Bonaventure University in 1989, members of the Army ROTC Seneca Battalion helped incoming freshmen move their stuff into their dorm rooms.  Afterward, they invited all of the freshmen to a lunch.

“When they described the ...

When Steve Appleby asks area students if they know Snoop Dog, Eminem, Kanye West, the Kardashians, Parris Hilton or Miley Cyrus, they answer yes. Then Appleby will ask which of them knows Jason Dunham is, and the students will not have a clue.

Appleby will explain that Jason Dunham was a Marine from Scio, in Allegany County, New York, who was killed in Iraq in 2006 after jumping on a grenade ...
