ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – July was another record-breaking month for TAPinto Greater Olean, the online news site staffed by St. Bonaventure University journalism students.
The site received 13,121 page views, by far the highest total for July since TAPinto Greater Olean’s launch in 2016.
The 2019 total was more than the combined total of July 2016, 2017 and 2018. In July 2018, TAPinto Greater Olean received 6,178 page views. The July numbers in 2016 and 2017 were 2,626 and 4,317, respectively.
July 2019 also marked the seventh consecutive month that TAPinto Greater Olean exceeded 10,000 page views. Prior to 2019, TAPinto Greater Olean had only surpassed the 10,000 mark five times.
TAPinto Co-editors Anne and Richard Lee attributed the July numbers to the site’s growing popularity and the dedication of journalism students in St. Bonaventure’s Jandoli School of Communication who are covering stories for the site over the summer while classes (including the class that produces TAPinto Greater Olean) are not in session.
The Lees were pleased with the numbers because summer generally is a slow time for news. Producing fresh content during the summer is especially challenging for TAPinto Greater Olean because of the summer break.
July also was a record-breaking month for the entire TAPinto organization, which includes more than 80 sites in five states. In July, the organization had 1.3 million users and 1.85 sessions per user, its largest totals ever.
