OLEAN, NY — The Olean Public Library and Canticle Farm will wrap up the 2020 season of the “Ask a Farmer” Q&A series on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the Olean Public Library Facebook Page

Sunday’s episode will feature, as a guest, John Balacki, an Olean physician whom people also may know as a vendor of bulbs, paintings and cards with images of his paintings at the Saturday REAP Farmers Market in Lincoln Park. Topics will be adding color to fall gardens and why cleaning up plant debris is important.

Stephanie Beneng, an assistant at the Olean Public Library, and Mark Printz, manager of Canticle Farm in Allegany, cohost the series with the goal of helping gardeners who are in need of information and inspiration.

“I started the program because I knew that the pandemic would spur more people to create gardens, and I wanted them to have a local source of inspiration and information,” Beneng, who also works as a field hand at Canticle Farm, said. “I hope I succeeded in that.”

Beneng hopes to continue the series in 2021. The series began as a podcast in April and changed formats in mid-May.
