OLEAN, NY — The Olean Public Library will begin offering Checkers Library TV, a monthly children's show illustrating the benefits of reading, on Monday at 3:30 pm on the library's website and social media accounts.

This program is best suited to children 2 to 10 years of age, according to a news release from the library. The main monthly episodes of Checkers Library TV are 30 minutes in length; shorter weekly segments also will be available.

The star of the program is Checkers the Inventor. He has a vacuum robot sidekick Snoozer, who tells a joke of the week. Other regular segments include Dr. Dan's weekly health and safety tips and Mrs. Hamilton's Storytime Theater. Checkers Library TV also features book recommendations, interviews, art projects, science experiments, toy reviews and viewer mail.

Checkers the Inventor has produced multimedia educational entertainment for libraries, schools, online platforms and live events for the past 10 years and performed three times at the White House during the annual Easter Egg Roll in support of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign.
