OLEAN, NY – Absentee ballot counting, scheduled for Nov. 19, could make a difference for the Ward 7 Alderman election.
Reed McElfresh, who ran on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines, received 198 votes on Election Day, just four votes more than his opponent, David Anastasia, the Democratic and Working Families parties candidate, received.
Sixteen absentee ballots have been received for the Ward 7 race, according to Kelle Brisky, a Cattaraugus County election clerk,
McElfresh is a business analyst at Iroquois Group in Allegany. Anastasia held the Ward 7 Alderman seat from 1985 to 1995 before his election to the Cattaraugus County Legislature, where he served for 12 years.
The Ward 7 seat is held by Brian George, who ran for county legislature this year, but was unsuccessful in his bid for a District 8 seat.
