CUBA, NY – Republicans Michael M. Weber and Melodie Farwell won council seats in the Town of Cuba yesterday. Weber finished with 40% of the vote; Farwell had 33.33%.
They defeated Independence Party candidate Jeff Griswold, who had 20%, and Richard Patterer, who ran on the Retired MSGT Party line and finished with 6.67%.
The Cuba Town Supervisor, the Superintendent of Highways and two of the three Assessor positions also were on the ballot, but all candidates for those posts ran unopposed.
Council member Lee James was elected Supervisor, a post held by Joseph Miller, who did not seek re-election. Incumbent Chad Smith won the Superintendent of Highways elect, and Merlin Briggs and Richard Truax were re-elected to their Assessor posts. All of the unopposed candidates are Republicans.
