OLEAN, NY – A partnership between Olean-based Cutco Cutlery and the Alzheimer’s Association® resulted in a donation to the non-profit association totaling $112,000.
Cutco offered specially-engraved, limited-edition purple products for sale during the month of June, which the Association designates as Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month®.
The products included a purple spatula spreader with a sheath, purple Super Shears, a purple cutting board and a two-piece set (spatula and shears). They were etched with the Alzheimer’s Association logo and “Cutco Cares”.
Ten percent of the sale price from each item was donated to the Association’s 77 Chapters across the country, with amounts based on the purchase zip codes. The Western New York Chapter, whose territory includes Cutco’s Olean headquarters, is credited with the most sales, and is receiving a donation from the knife maker for $13,552.
“We are very grateful for Cutco's commitment to our mission and work, locally and nationally,” Lynn Westcott, the chapter’s director of corporate relations, said. “They have been a generous and supportive corporate partner in our fight against Alzheimer’s, helping to advance research while enhancing care and support programs across Western New York”.
The donated funds will help the association provide education and support to millions of people who face dementia every day, including more than 400,000 New Yorkers.
