The National Warplane Museum will conduct a flyover mission on Saturday to honor first responders, medical personnel and essential workers.

Operation Thanks from Above, Southern Tier will fly over 45 sites, including several locations in the Greater Olean area.

Two planes are scheduled to fly over Allegany at 11:03 a.m., St. Bonaventure University at 11:04 a.m., Olean General Hospital at 11:05 a.m. and Universal Primary Care in Olean at 11:07 a.m. Flyover times listed are subject to change

The planes will be a Douglas C-47, named “Whiskey 7”, and a P-51 Mustang named "Mad Max." The Douglas C-47 was the lead aircraft in the second wave of the D-Day invasion on over Sainte Mere Eglise, Normandy, on June 6, 1944.

The warplane museum conducted a similar mission, Operation Thanks from Above, Western NY, on May 16.

“We are incredibly honored to take part in yet another flyover mission to show forth our gratitude and support to those on the front lines," Todd Cameron, the flight operations director, said. "The outpouring of positivity from the community following the first mission has been incredible, and we couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this movement."
