WASHINGTON – Rep. Tom Reed, who fell in the Cannon Rotunda Thursday afternoon, has been been diagnosed with pneumonia.

"After my evaluation by the doctors at George Washington University Hospital, it turns out I had a previously undiagnosed case of pneumonia," Reed said in a statement released by his office Friday morning. "I look forward to returning to work on Monday."

Reed, who represents the Greater Olean in Congress, was on his way to a television interview on Thursday afternoon when he fell in the Cannon Rotunda. Video showed him being wheeled out of the building on a gurney.

He was evaluated by doctors at George Washington University Hospital and discharged, according to a statement isusued last night by Will Reinert, the congressman's spokesperson.

Earlier on Thursday, Reinert reported that Reed was is in good condition following his fall.

"Tom is in good condition, responsive and being checked out by medical personnel following today's fall,” he said.
