ALBANY, NY – Surrounded by his family and members of the Senate Republican Conference, Sen. George Borrello took the oath of office Wednesday as the representative of the New York 57th State Senate District, which includes the Greater Olean area. The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber just prior to the official start of the 2020 Legislative Session.

“I remain deeply grateful and humbled at the opportunity I’ve been given to represent the good people of the 57th District," Borrello said. "As the 2020 Legislative Session begins, my constituents can be assured that I will be the strong advocate they need and deserve in state government. I am excited about beginning this crucial work and tackling both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

Borrelllo, a Republican, won the Nov. 5 special election for the 57th District seat. He defeated Democrat Austin Morgan in the special election, which was called to fill the seat vacated by Sen. Catharine Young, who resigned in February to accept a job as the director of New York State Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture at Cornell AgriTech.
