The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning advisory for Cattaraugus County. The warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday.
According to the agency:
- Winds of 25-to-35 miles per hour are expected with gusts up to 60 miles per hour;
- The winds may blow down trees and power lines and lead to scattered power outages;
- Unsecured holiday decorations could also be damaged, and
- Travel could be difficult.
"People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches," the agency warned in the advisory. "If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive. Secure or shelter loose objects and holiday decorations in a safe location prior to the onset of the strong winds."
