The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for several counties in New York state, including Cattaraugus County.
The warning will go into effect at 8 p.m. Thursday and continue until 1 p.m. Friday.
Winds between 30 and 60 miles per hour are expected. People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches and should remain, if possible, avoid windows and stay in the lower levels of their home. Driving is to be done with caution and people should be prepared to move to a place of safety if threatening weather approaches.
