The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. The advisory will be in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday.

According to the agency, lake effect snow and blowing snow are expected with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and winds gusts as high as 40 miles per hour.

"Travel could be very difficult for brief periods of time," the advisory warns. "Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute."
