Noting that March is Women’s History Month, Rep. Tom Reed on Monday said the recently enacted tax reform legislation will benefit not only corporate America, but also women and families.
“With women making up 47 percent of the workforce, women are able to keep more of their hard-earned dollars in their pocket,” Reed said during a conference call with reporters.
“This allows women to utilize that resource to potentially go out on their own, create their own business, and reinvest that money in their children’s future, or just spend that money in the way that women choose to do with the money that they’ve earned,” he said.
Reed, who represents the Greater Olean area in Congress, noted that Congress has doubled the child tax credit and the standard deduction and simplified the tax system.
“I personally feel that we are going to see tax reforms as the foundation to a stronger economy, and as a result, not only women, but also children and grandchildren will see a much more prosperous future going forward,” he said.
