PORTVILLE, NY— Portville Central School District is closed to all students through April 12, and employees should not report to work Monday so that buildings can be thoroughly cleaned, in light of two reported Coronavirus cases in nearby Allegany County.

The notice was posted late Sunday on the district's Facebook page.

Earlier Sunday, Thomas J. Simon, superintendent, had announced the closure for students would begin Wednesday and that regularly scheduled classes would take place Monday and Tuesday.

The district has a food plan in place to provide meals to students who require it. Staff members will call families in the community throughout the week to discuss specific needs. Providers will contact the families of students with disabilities who receive specialized services.

Simon said the district will continue to assess information from local and state health officials.
