OLEAN, NY — The city of Olean is installing signs indicating that Olean’s parks are tobacco free.
“Last year the Common Council passed Resolution #80-19, which banned the use of tobacco, nicotine or vapor devices in city-owned recreational facilities,” Mayor William J. Aiello said.
Reality Check CCA, an organization that educates youth on the dangers of tobacco, partnered with the city to produce the signs.
“With the COVID-19 restrictions in place, use of the parks has increased significantly for group functions and meetings,” Aiello said. “We ask leaders of these groups to please remind their members of the tobacco restrictions.”
The Olean Police Department will be enforcing the city’s tobacco-free park law.
