PORTVILLE – The differences between Belize City, Belize, and Churchill, Canada, are striking and numerous.  One city is located in a tropical rainforest, while the other exists in a subarctic climate.

What they have in common is their very heavy reliance on eco-tourism to support their economies and their conservation efforts. And that will be the topic of "Adventures on the Big Blue Marble," a lecture presented Jan. 18, 10:30 a.m.-noon, Portville Free Library, 2 N. Main St., by Pfeiffer Nature Center Program Coordinator Bev Jones and nature enthusiast Barb Busack. The two will share the adventures they have taken to these unique and beautiful parts of the world.

This event will be free for Pfeiffer members and for children 13 and under; other attendees should pay a fee $5. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
