SALAMANCA, NY — For a positive start to a jolly season of giving, the Cattaraugus Community Action organization will sponsor its 13th annual Santa’s Carnival event for youths in the community ages 11 and younger.
The holiday event, scheduled for Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc. on 25 Jefferson St., will feature participants from each of CCA’s departments give out games, crafts and a raffle contests available for all children. In addition, Eric Jones will be making funny holiday caricatures for children, and LeeAnne Sadler Photography will be taking pictures of children with Santa.
Every year, approximately 187 children in the community participate.
Angel Fisher, event coordinator for CCA, explains that Santa’s Carnival is special because it brings everyone together for the holidays.
“The holidays can be stressful in the best of times, but even more so for low-income families. Santa’s Carnival is our way of allowing children and parents to let their hair down and have fun and relax,” Fisher said.
Fisher explained every child will be able to leave the festivities with gifts, prizes, decorations, treats, homemade Christmas cookies and hot cocoa. Event organizers also make sure the setting accommodates persons with special needs.
Cattaraugus Community Action is a non-profit organization that envisions an environment where all vulnerable populations have access to the services and supports they need to thrive. They value professionalism, empowerment, continuous improvement and partnerships in their organization and is completely funded by community donations such as baked goods, monetary or other personal items.
Santa’s Carnival is free and open to all in the community.
