ALLEGANY, NY — In an effort to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, Allegany-Limestone Central School District will follow the recommendations made by the Allegany and Cattaraugus County Health Departments and close from Wednesday through April 12.
The school will be closed to students on Monday to allow its instructional team and other staff members to train and finalize educational plans.
Students will attend school on Tuesday to receive instruction for study, tools and supplies for the duration of the closure.
District Superintendent Tony Giannicchi said in a letter posted on the district's webpage that the district will be "constantly assessing" to see if a longer or shorter closure will be required, and would use feedback provided by local and state health officials.
"This time will be challenging for all communities, but we are dedicated to serving our students and keeping them as safe as possible while still allowing educational growth," Giannicchi said.
