The Cattaraugus County Health Department confirmed a 50th case of the coronavirus Friday, according to a press release.
The 50th case is a woman who lives in the southwest quadrant of the county. According to the press release, she has no significant travel history, but came into close contact with known COVID-19 positive person.
The woman was given a rapid COVID-19 test on May 6, which was negative. She later developed a fever, dry cough, sore throat and diarrhea. She was tested again by the department on Wednesday. Her test results on Friday indicated that she was positive for COVID-19, according to the press release.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing on the individual.
