The Cattaraugus County Health Department confirmed two additional cases of coronavirus Wednesday, bringing the county’s total to 71.
The 70th confirmed case is a woman who lives in the southeast quadrant of the county, according to a press release issued by the department. She has no significant travel history and denies any contact with a known COVID-19 positive individual. The woman, who reported being asymptomatic, was tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, and her COVID-19 positive result came back Tuesday.
The 71st confirmed case is a man who is a healthcare worker in Olean and reports having direct contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, according to the press release. The man, who lives in the southeast quadrant of the county, developed a fever, cough and body aches. He was tested for COVID-19 on Monday, and his COVID-19 positive result came back Tuesday.
The department has begun thorough contact tracing on the individuals.
There are 14 active cases of COVID-19 in the county; 53 individuals have recovered, and four have died.
