The Cattaraugus County Health Department confirmed two additional cases of the coronavirus, bringing the county’s total to 62, according to a press release issue by the department Sunday.
The 61st case is a woman who lives in the southeastern quadrant of the county, according to the press release. She is a health care worker at a Cattaraugus County nursing home. Because New York State requires twice-weekly testing for coronavirus of all nursing home employees, she received a test Wednesday, and the positive result came back Saturday. The woman has been asymptomatic, according to the press release.
The 62nd confirmed case is a woman who lives in the southwestern quadrant of the county, according the press release. She is a healthcare worker at a nursing home in Erie County. She has been asymptomatic, was tested for COVID-19 on Friday, and received a positive result Sunday.
The health department has begun a thorough contact tracing on the individuals.
Cattaraugus County has 19 active COVID-19 cases; 41 residents have recovered. Three residents have died from the disease.
