OLEAN, NY – Mayor William Aiello announced the closure of the following city recreation centers and programs until further notice:

  • The John J. Ash Community Center (also known as the Senior Center);
  • The William O. Smith Recreation Center;
  • The City Youth Recreation Program at St. John's; and
  • The Bartlett House Historical Center and the Olean Point Museum.

The Olean Municipal Building will remain open for city business at this point in time.

“I would like to reiterate the importance of good hygiene such as keeping hands clean and away from the face, foregoing handshaking, covering coughs and sneezes, disinfecting surfaces and staying home if sick, “Aiello said in a press release.

 “I would like Olean residents to continue to be calm and to face the threat of this virus wisely," he added. "If you feel that you have been exposed or have symptoms of COVID-19, please limit your exposure to other people, stay home from work, and call your physician before going to the emergency room or doctor’s office.”
