CUBA, NY – The Cuba-Rushford Central School District announced late Sunday that students will not report to school until April 13, and that staff and faculty should not come to work Monday and Tuesday because the district will be performing a "deep cleaning."
Supervisors will contact essential personnel if they need to report to work.
The 10:47 p.m. announcement on the district's website came after Allegany County's identification of two cases of Coronavirus cases in the county.
Initially, the district intended to have students attend school through Tuesday.
Superintendent Carlos Gildemeister said the district has closed all facilities and fields to the public and that all previously approved building use forms are suspended until further notice.
Gildemeister said instruction will occur through alternative, supplemental means. The district plans to create a food plan for students who will need it during the closure; the information about the plan will be released on Tuesday.
Gildemeister said he will communicate directly with families during the closure and that the district will continue to assess information from local and state health officials to see if a longer or shorter closure will be required.
