OLEAN, NY — The City School District plans to resume in-person school days Thursday and Friday for its gold cohort team, according a message posted on the district website Wednesday. After-school activities also are expected to resume.

On Thursday, schools will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than usual because it is a state-mandated go-home early day.

Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday after a student and an employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

As part of the district’s hybrid learning model, students are divided into cohorts — labeled red and gold. Each cohort attends school in person two days a week and learns online for the remainder of the week. All students learn online on Wednesdays.

“We want to thank everyone for your patience in allowing the Cattaraugus County Department of Health time to perform the necessary contact tracing and issue the necessary quarantines to keep us safe and healthy,” the district's notice read. “Additionally, our employees were able to thoroughly clean and disinfect all of our buildings.”
