OLEAN, NY — An Olean City School District employee has tested positive for COVID-19, and the district has asked all students to stay home Monday and Tuesday, according a message posted on the district website Sunday.
As part of the district’s hybrid learning model, students do not attend in-person classes on Wednesdays. Instruction on Monday and Tuesday will mirror Wednesday’s model of instruction.
“This will allow the Cattaraugus County Department of Health time to follow their procedure of contact tracing and to issue quarantines,” Sunday’s notice read. “This will also give the District time to clean our buildings as protocol requires. The district is working closely with the Cattaraugus County Department of Health to ensure that proper precautions are being followed to keep everyone safe.”
All afterschool activities for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday have been canceled. Meals will continue to be available at all locations at the usual times.
On Saturday, the district canceled all weekend activities because an Olean High School student tested positive for COVID-19.
Additional updates will be posted on the district web page and shared through emails and Robo calls.
