OLEAN, NY — In response to the New York State Department of Health's recent declaration regarding influenza's prevalence in the state, Olean General Hospital stressed the importance of preventing the flu's spread by obtaining readily available vaccinations.
OGH also recommends proper hand hygiene, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning surfaces at home and workplaces, staying home when sick and avoiding contact with sick people.
The hospital has not implemented any visitor restrictions because the flu season has only just begun. It does note that those who are sick should not visit the hospital except for care. In that case, wear a face mask. Should flu activity increase, changes will be made to the visitation policy.
